Person Involved Categories

The Person Involved Categories page allows you to define categories for the persons involved in an incident, for example, staff, vendors, or police. The values you enter on this page are used to populate the Category drop-down menu in window that opens when you click the Add Person link on the Incident Details page.

To open the Person Involved Categories page:

  1. Open the Administration Menu page.

  2. Under the INCIDENT ADMIN heading, click Person Involved Categories.

To add a person involved category:

  1. In the New Person Involved Category field, enter the name of the category.

    This is the value that will be displayed to users.

    Person involved category names must be unique. If you attempt to add a category that already exists, an error message will appear. The system does not consider category names that are differentiated only by character case to be unique. For example, if you create a category named "Medical Staff", creating a category named "medical staff" is not allowed.

  2. Click ADD.

    A dialog box opens asking you to confirm your choice.

  3. Click OK.

Once you have created a person involved category, you can further define it or edit it. To edit a category:

  1. In the Person Involved Category field, select the category to edit.

  2. To change the name of the category, enter a value in the Rename field.

    All historical information will reflect the new value.

    Person involved category names must be unique. If you attempt to rename a category to a name that already exists, an error message will appear. The system does not consider category names that are differentiated only by character case to be unique. For example, if the category "Medical Staff" exists, renaming a category "medical staff" is not allowed.

  3. In the Tab Order field, enter a numeric value.

    The Tab Order indicates the position, in menus, where this value will be listed. Lower numbered values are displayed toward the top of the list. Values will the same tab order will be sorted alphabetically.

  4. To change the status, select a value in the Status field.

    Categories with a status of Inactive are not displayed to users. However, inactivating a category does not affect the existing incidents that utilize it.

  5. Click UPDATE.

Person Involved Categories that have not been used can be deleted from the system.

Person involved categories that have been associated with incidents cannot be deleted, but they can be inactivated to prevent users from accessing them.

To delete a person involved category:

  1. In the Person Involved Category field, select the value to delete.

  2. Click DELETE.

    A dialog box opens asking you to confirm your choice.

  3. Click OK.
